Venders’ Mechanics is a mobile bicycle mechanic service, partnered with Cycle Confident, The Agency, and many other businesses all with similar goals, Aiding the future generation. What we have created is a service that not only delivers a, to your location repair service, but a training program that boosts employability of young people, allowing them the chance to ‘break the cycle’ of crime. The hope of this is to have no more youths going to jail for petty crimes, and getting trapped in the jail mentality.

Founded in 2016, Venders mechanics was aimed to revolutionise the cycling industry, allowing safety for cyclists by allowing them the freedom to have their bicycle fixed in their own time rather than making time to bring it to a bike shop. This idea was worked on with the help of Battersea Arts Centre, through a year of partner and network building. In December 2017, Venders Mechanics received funding from The Arts Council to explore this venture and have already run a training course, which was concluded with a popup mechanic session which allows for students of the course to get in some practice on real customer bikes.

We have attacked our mission statement, ‘breaking the cycle,’ from many different angles. Firstly, our Mechanics come through a very exclusive employment programme, You not only get to improve employee’s lives, but are supporting countless youths by helping to keep them out of crime, and ultimately, out of jail. Our partnership with cycle confident allows for youths to receive the best possible mechanic training in the days provided. This also means that youths are assisted whilst running pop up mechanics, to allow the best possible services on customer bicycles.

All our mechanics are trained to be friendly and approachable through a partnership that will train them in customer service, so at our pop up mechanic sessions, you, as a cyclist, are comfortable to bring us your beloved bicycle and allow our mechanics to check everything on your bike Starting from wheels and tyre pressure, to pedals, brakes, gears, saddles and more. By the end, your bike will feel refined and ride twice as smooth. If it is a minor adjustment required, we will do these on the spot. If this however is not possible, then we can book the bike for a more intimate repair on a later date. Pricing is determined on what needs doing, and how long it will take us to get to your location.
