Cycle Confident are “A reliable, dynamic and progressive training organisation whose aim is to unlock London by empowering everyone to cycle confidently and safely”

Cycle Confident have been variously praised for their high quality delivery, flexibility, communication and preparedness to go the extra yard. We have partnered with them to deliver the best possible training to our mechanic students. This partnership provides Venders Mechanics with quality training equipment, and a quality facilitator. We chose to work with cycle confident because since 2007 they have provided National Standard Cycle Training to thousands of adults and children, giving them the confidence to ride safely on the roads. We work with Individuals, Businesses, Local Authorities and Activity Groups giving them the tools and training to cycle safely, and with confidence, on and off the road.

Community Bikes is a new project aimed at encouraging cycling and providing bicycle related services in the local community. We are based in West Norwood, co-located with the awesome Community Shop, behind the Lambeth Reuse and Recycling Centre at Vale Street. Inspired by Community Shop and its business mentoring scheme, we are setting up a bike share scheme, repairing bikes, hosting cycle training and cycle repair training, and recycling bikes for the local community and to send to Africa.

“The Lambeth Youth Offending Service (LYOS) works with young people that get into trouble with the law. We look into the background of a young person and try to help them stay away from crime.”

They aim to

• help young people at the police station if they’re arrested
• help young people and their families at court
• supervise young people serving a sentence in the community
• stay in touch with a young person if they’re sentenced to custody
• contribute to the deliver of local crime prevention programmes

The reason that we have decided tow work alongside them is because they have an abundance of youths that have been through the criminal justice system, meaning they are at the prime stage to be influenced by a positive outlet rather than continuing on a path that will lead them to be stuck in the crime cycle.

The Agency
The agency is “A collaboration with Contact Manchester in collaboration with People’s Palace Projects that works with young people to make their entrepreneurial ideas a reality. Supported by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Big Lottery Fund, it is modeled on Agenica Redes Para Juventude in Brazil.”
